A while ago I posted my “best looking cars of the 10s list. I honestly didn’t put enough thought into it and I think we should give it a go collectively at some point.

But I thought I should do the other side of the coin the Ten Ugliest Cars of the 10s. Here they are.

Lamborghini Urus

ZHonda Civic Type R

Honda Clarity

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

Buick Encore

Tesla Model X

Toyota Maria

BMW i8:  I have a feeling this is going to be the one most people disagree with me on.

BMW X6

Mini Cooper Coupe. This car is just as stupid as an X6. Just smaller.

Some Honorable Mentions

Nissan Juke: it grew on me

McLaren Senna: it was on the list, I even typed it out, but then I went to get pictures of it I went “actually I kinda like that.”

The Aston Martin DBX: it’s actually a ‘21 model.

Basically any 3 row crossover that isn’t a Flex. They are all not great, but none of them are offensive enough for a list like this.

The Toyota CHR: again it was on the list but I thought of things that I hate more.

The Ford Ecosport (a car that is neither of the things it name implies): could have easily been here but I let the Encore have its place because I hate it more. It has the same problem of the Venaro or any small Buick. Namely that is trying to lie to you. It wants you to think it’s a big luxury car but it clearly isn’t.

I still don’t love it, but the type R definitely grew on me. I like the model X too, even if I wouldn’t call it beautiful. And the i8... Looks pretty good. I’m not sure what I’d replace those with though. Most of the terrible cars I can think of were from the 2000's.

Oh and y ou should get misdemeanor charges at a bare minimum for posting a picture of that Honda Clarity. Did the Urus get a face-lift? Somehow it’s even uglier than I remember... In addition to it’s inclusion on this list, t he mini coupe should also win the “most unfortunate proportions award of the decade”

I will never stop seeing the Type R as an attempt to resurrect the early 2000s tuner scene. And that SOUNDS like a good thing until you see it.

The i8 has always offended me. It looks like a i3 playing dress up as a super car. The Model X is to me a great example of how a simple design can still be bad.

And yeah the 00’s were a sad time for car design, but more just bland designs than actually offensive ones.

Also it’s funny you mention the Clarity. Of the cars I put on the list it’s the first one I’d replace if I found something that needed to be here. I actually kind of like it.

If the type R had just given the sti like 15% of it’s aggressive look, imagine how much better both of them would have looked...

The Prowler is hot. It just needed more heat under the hood. Whoever signed off on the V6 needs to be shot. Either go all out and give it a V8, or work with the room you have and give it the SRT4 engine

Doing a quick search, some cars I would have on here before the three I mentioned (note: these were sold in the 2010s, but many if not all of were introduced earlier, so maybe they don’t count) :

Focus:

I’ve always hated this gen. While the first gen looked like a fun and funky cheap car, the more conservative styling on this one just screamed “aren’t you ashamed you couldn’t afford a Fusion?” Adding insult to injury is the fact the real mk2 Focus that other markets got was actually a pretty attractive car.

Inginiti QX56, I just don’t have words, gargantuan size makes it look worse in person.

Low end version of the Challenger, huge and wide in girth, very muscly looking, then you see the tires, you expect a little meat underneath it, if any cars look or vibe is ruined by tire size this is it

And, though not a Prius hater, the latest generation is really working too hard towards the atomic cockroach look

Yeah I was avoiding anything that carried over from the 00’s 05-10 was an especially sad time for car design.

The narrow tires are part of the retro look duh.

Yeah that Infiniti is a mess. I think it’s a strong contender for “worst SUV of the 10’s”.

There’s nothing here I find disagreeable . Sorry if that’s not allowed on the internet.

Here’s some more I would add:

Sierra Denali. If you’re lucky, you can find ones that have the reflectors stuck on top of the cladding at the top of the wheel well.

Facelifted Traverse.

The regular Prius it at least 75% uglier than the Mirai.

We wanted the Camry wagon. They gave us the Venza.

I love the ZDX in a “ugly dog” kind of way, but these are objectively HIDEOUS.

I agree! I kinda like the Clarity. It’s an Accord with a small twist. Kinda handsome if you ask me. To be fair I also don’t find the Accord Crosstour thaaat bad. It’s just very off putting at the particular size it is. If it was smaller it’d be fine.

I would add the 3-series GT (and I actually like the 5 and 6 ones) and pretty much every spindle grille Lexus except the LC. Also the latest gen Avalon and the facelifted Prius V . Man I just really hate most everything Toyota put out this decade  And I’d  extend the Civic to all trims and body styles.

I don’t know how I ended up with no trucks. That GMC it the current Silverado could easily take the Clarity’s place .

The Equinox and Venza both fall into the “bad but not offensive” category for me. I disliked the old Equinox more. I will agree that a Candy wagon would be great.m to see again. But this time with 3 wipers front and 3  rear. Because more is more better. 

I know I’m going to catch flack for this but I don’t mind the 4th gen Prius. I even liked it more before the lacelift. And I like the Prime from that back.

I feel exactly the same about the ZDX. Like I want to like if, but then I look at it again.

Yeah Toyota has had a bad decade. Altho the Lexuses are getting better now that they are being designed with the spindle in mind. For example the old ES that got it as a facelift vs the new one.

I’d rather have the weird roof of the old one than the weird droopy headlights and excessive chrome of this one (the QX80 facelift helped a lot just by cleaning up the headlights, it’s still ugly, but just conventionally ugly)

My neighbor has an i8, the only one I have ever seen all one color (grey). It looks nice, still not a fan but it looks nice.

Or they could have gone with the Challenger’s method: Make the base engine a good V6 (that prowler’s V6 made 255 hp in 2001, the same year Mustang GT made 260hp), and then make a batshit crazy version with 500+ horsepower with a production cap of 15 or so.

I’m wondering what it would have been like with a manual and the V6 though. At only 2800 pounds, it might have become Chrysler’s crazy miata competitor .

Now let me get this straight. You make a list of the ugliest cars of the 2010’s and don’t have any version of the new Silverado on there? I think those are the ugliest thing I have seen since the Aztec. They are appallingly bad. On a related note, anybody know where to send a cease and desist letter for Chevy’s current stylist?
